A total of 31 former Bellingham Bells have made it to the next level and appeared on or were active on an MLB affiliate roster in 2018. Below we will recap the seasons of four former Bells as they continue to represent the Bells in the minor leagues!
Scott Griggs - Hartford Yard Goats, Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies - 2010 Bellingham Bell
A 2010 Bell, Griggs has continued to pursue his passion for baseball with the Yard Goats. After being drafted in the 8th round to Los Angeles, Griggs was acquired by the Rockies in 2017 and moved his way up through their farm system, finishing the 2018 season at the Double-A level. Throughout his career, the right-handed pitcher has recorded 11 wins over his 117 game appearances in relief. Griggs has also made 27 saves while striking out 258 batters and a career ERA of 3.58. He is still active within Colorado's organization.
Moises Ceja - Asheville Tourists, Class A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies - 2014 Bellingham Bell
A member of our 2014 WCL Championship winning Bells, Ceja was drafted in the 32nd round to Colorado in 2017. Since joining their organization, he has been able to reach their Class A Full Season affiliate while finding success on the mound. In 2018, he went 3-2 over his 30 games between the Rockies Rookie Level affiliate and Full Season A team. He finished with an ERA of 2.96 for 2018, one save, and 45 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched. The former UCLA Bruin is still active with the Rockies and will look to continue his momentum in 2019.
Reagan Todd - Boise Hawks, Class A Short Season affiliate of the Colorado Rockies - 2015 Bellingham Bell
Todd was drafted by Colorado in the 32nd round of the 2018 MLB draft after finishing his college baseball career at Colorado Mesa. After beginning the 2018 season at the Rookie level, Todd finished the year with the Bosie Hawks appearing in five of their games. He has recorded 24 K's, 1 win, and 24 strikeouts during this past season, with most of his 17 game appearances coming in relief. Reagan is still active within the Rockie organization at this time.
Gunnar Schubert - Jupiter Hammerheads, Class A Advanced affiliate of the Miami Marlins - 2016 Bellingham Bell
Currently the only former Bell active within the Marlins, Schubert was drafted by Miami in the 28th round of the 2018 draft. Playing for four different teams during 2018 season, Gunnar finished the season with the Marlins' Class A Advanced affiliate, hitting .424 in 33 at-bats over 10 games. Overall for his young career, he is averaging .286 from behind the plate and 11 RBIs in his 47 games played. A former Gonzaga Bulldog, Schubert has found early success in the minors and is continuing to grow and be ready for the 2019 season!
