Bells Wrap Up Road Trip with 5-4 Win

Kelowna, B.C. – The Bellingham Bells wrapped up their 10-game road trip with a 5-4 win over the Kelowna Falcons Wednesday, June 23, at Elks Stadium in Kelowna, B.C.

Trailing 4-0, the Bells used a four-run sixth inning to tie the game before catcher Jeff Calhoon drove in the game-winning run with his lone hit of the contest in the eighth inning.

Bellingham pounded out 10 runs during the series finale, including a pair of hits from Chris Sturdivant, Ben Ruff, Chris Pierce, and Danny Hennigs. The win moved Bellingham to 9-8 on the season and 5-5 on the Bells’ first road trip of the 2010 season.

On the mound, Jimmy Reed picked up his second win of the season after pitching three innings of no-hit baseball to finish the game. Cordell Greene got the start and allowed three runs in four innings before giving way to John Volk who allowed one run in two innings on the hill.

The Bells return to Bellingham Thursday, June 24, for an off day before returning to action on Friday, June 25, against the Moses Lake Pirates at 6:35 p.m. Bellingham opens a seven-game home stand with Haggen $1 Family Feast Night presented by Praise 106.5 on Friday.

The home stand includes three games against the Pirates (June 25-27), three games against the Walla Walla Sweets (June 28-30), and the first fireworks show in town celebrating Independence Day on July 2 following the Bells game with the Kitsap BlueJackets.
