The Bellingham Bells fell to the Kelowna Falcons 5-4 at Elks Stadium in Kelowna.
The Bells led 4-0 after three innings but Kelowna closed the gap to 4-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth. In the ninth the Falcons crossed the game tying and game winning runs on a Landon Packard error to defeat the Bells 5-4.
Bellingham got on the board in the second. Shane Hanon started the threat with a single. Brock Anderson followed with a towering homerun over the left field fence. The Bells led 2-0 after two innings.
The Bells tacked on two more runs in the third. Danny Casals reached second on an error and came into score on an Elijah Skipps RBI single. Skipps promptly stole second and came into score on an Anderson RBI single. Anderson finished the day 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a stolen base.
Connor Johnson got the start for Bellingham and worked three and a third scoreless while being on a tight pitch count. Gio Lopez worked two innings only allowing three unearned runs to cross. Dan Stealey tossed two and two thirds allowing two unearned runs to score while fanning one. And Henry Stellwagen (0-1) entered with the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the ninth recorded a strikeout before the game ending error occurred.
Bellingham issued seven walks as a pitching staff and committed four errors on defense.
The Bells will take the field again on Sunday night against the Kelowna Falcons. First pitch will be thrown at 6:05, with pre-game coverage starting on 930 KBAI AM with Tom Prizeman at 5:35.
