Bells Fall Short

The Bellingham Bells (23-20) were shutdown 5-0 by the Cowlitz Black Bears (21-22) Tuesday night at Story Field in Longview.

Starting pitchers Tyler Palm (1-1) and Jordan Jones (1-0) went toe to toe for the first six innings before Cowlitz exploded for three runs in the seventh inning and two more runs in the eighth frame.

Palm tossed six scoreless innings before being tagged with all three runs in the seventh. The Oakland University’s product final line was six and a third innings, seven hits, three earned runs and two punch-outs.

Jones tossed seven innings on the bump for the Black Bears, fanning four and allowing only three hits.

Hunter Haworth worked the final inning and two thirds for the Bells, allowing two runs on four hits and two strikeouts.

Bellingham left five runners on base, hit into two double plays and only recorded three hits in the loss.

The Bells left Andru Cardenas on third in the first and stranded two runners on base in both the seventh and eighth innings.

Bellingham returns to the field tomorrow against the Cowlitz Black Bears. First pitch will be thrown a 6:35, with pre-game coverage starting at 6:10 with Tom Prizeman on mixlr.com/bellinghambells.
