Bells Add Two from the Sooner State
The Bellingham Bells are excited to welcome RHP Ryan Bogusz from Oklahoma State and shortstop Yugo Hamakawa from Northwestern Oklahoma State University to the 2021 roster.
Bogusz is in his sophomore year at Oklahoma State and was poised to make his Bells debut in 2020. He stands at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds and is ready to join the Bells in 2021.
"Ryan Bogusz is a great addition to our pitching staff,” Bells pitching coach/recruiting coordinator Jim Clem said. “He had a terrific prep career, after which, he went to OSU as a freshman and pitched well for them during the abbreviated 2020 season. Ryan is a RHP with a quality 4-pitch mix. He is a strike-thrower with excellent command. We were excited to have Ryan on our 2020 roster, but when that season didn’t happen, we are now looking forward to his coming to Bellingham in 2021 with even greater anticipation!”
Bogusz is originally from Frisco, Texas and graduated from Lone Star High School where he went 11-0 from the mound with a 0.79 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 97 1/3 innings pitched.
Hamakawa is a senior shortstop for the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers which is three and a half hours from Bogusz at Oklahoma State.
Hamakawa spent his first two collegiate seasons at Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Wash., which is where Bells head coach Adam Geaslen also coaches. Hamakawa won an NWAC Golden Glove during his time at Edmonds.
“Yugo is a skilled defender up the middle and has a knack for routinely making the difficult play look easy,” Geaslen said. “He is a talented and versatile hitter that has the ability to excel at any spot in the order. Yugo possesses plus bat control and consistently displays an approach that utilizes the entire field. Yugo’s positive mindset and excellent work ethic will make him a great addition to the 2021 Bells team."
Hamakawa is originally from Tokyo, Japan and plans on majoring in health and sports science.
Bogusz and Hamakawa will add veteran depth to the Bells 2021 roster.
It’s Game Time!
