Bells Add to Pitching Rotation with Two Pitchers from UCSB

The Bells are excited to welcome right-handed pitchers Nick Welch and Mark Sellers from the University of Santa Barbara to the 2021 roster.

Sellers is a redshirt sophomore at Santa Barbara after transferring from UC – Merced. In the condensed spring season of 2020, Sellers ended with a 4-1 record and a 2.79 ERA.

"Mark Sellers is a talented guy that creates a great deal of tilt and displays nice arm side run," Bells head coach Adam Geaslen said.

Sellers will bring a large 6-foot-6 frame to the mound. He played basketball and baseball at El Capitan High School.

Welch graduated from Redwood High School in Redwood, Calif. where he was dedicated to improving his mental game and control. He looks forward to a new opportunity and new setting in Santa Barbara.

"Nick Welch is an athletic right-hander with the ability to command his three-pitch mix,” Geaslen said.

He also brings power to the plate. In the spring of 2020, Welch batted .389 and had an on-base percentage of .421.

"Both Mark and Nick are high character competitive individuals, and we look forward to their contributions to the Bells roster in 2021," Geaslen said.
