Bells Jump Out to Early Lead but Lose Season Series
Yakima, Wash. — The Bells started strong again in Yakima when Daniel Gernon led off the first with a base hit and was brought home on a two-out, one-run single from Charlie Saum that gave the Bells a 1-0 lead.
Emilio Corona increased the lead in the third with a two-run double into left field that brought home Ty Saunders and AJ Davis and gave the Bells a 3-0 lead.
Bells starter Will Armbruester gave up one hit through his first three innings of work but allowed a three-run home run over left field from Pippins infielder Blake Dickman.
Armbruester went seven innings total, his longest start of the season, and gave up three hits, three runs, no walks and struck out six.
With the game tied in the bottom of the eighth, reliever Carter Parcher entered the game and allowed one run off two hits which gave Yakima its first lead of the game 4-3.
Pippins reliever Tyler Freiders dominated after entering the game in the fifth and was credited with the win. Frieders allowed three hits while he struck out six — including two in the ninth to give the Pippins the 4-3 victory.
The Bells return home to Joe Martin Field on Tuesday to host the Wenatchee AppleSox, first pitch is scheduled for 6:35p.m. Listen to all of the action at mixlr.com/bellinghambells.
