Bells Release 2022 West Coast League Schedule
The Bellingham Bells are excited to announce the release of the West Coast League schedule.
The Bells will begin play at Joe Martin Field on Tuesday, May 31st, beginning the season with a $2 Tuesday opening day and a three-game series versus one of the league’s newest teams, the Springfield Drifters. The Bells will host all each of the WCL’s four new teams in 2022 – the Drifters, Edmonton Riverhawks, Kamloops NorthPaws and Nanaimo Night Owls.
The schedule features 34 home games at Joe Martin Field, including 6 $2 Tuesdays and a home game on the Fourth of July.
“We are really looking forward to the upcoming season and are hard at work planning the details,” Bells general manager Stephanie Morrell said. “We have a fantastic roster of players prepared to compete and a slate of fun promotions planned. As we plan for a new season, our team is focused on ensuring Bells Baseball will continue to meet and exceed fan expectations while providing a high-quality, affordable family friendly entertainment option for the Whatcom County community.”
The West Coast League will increase to 16 teams for 2022, as the league will welcome the Springfield Drifters and the WCL’s three 2021 expansion teams (Edmonton, Kamloops, Nanaimo) who were unable to compete in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league will also welcome back the Canadian franchises that did not compete in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic (Kelowna & Victoria).
“We are extremely encouraged by the growth of the West Coast League and are thrilled to welcome the Edmonton Riverhawks, Kamloops NorthPaws & the Nanaimo NightOwls to the WCL,” Morrell said. “All three are great additions, each is a fantastic market with top notch ownership and operations. Additionally, we are thrilled to be welcoming all of our Canadian colleagues back to league play. It just wasn’t the same without them in 2021 and we are looking forward to a special season in the West Coast League.”
