Bells Announce Two Incoming Stetson Players for 2023 Season

The Bellingham Bells are excited to announce two new players from Stetson University. Head to the opposite end of the country with us this week as we introduce RHP Simon Lusignan and IF Yohann Dessureault.

Lusignan, who is from Quebec and grew up speaking French as his first language, was the number two pitcher and a top five player in Canada coming out of high school. Lusignan missed last season due to an injury. He has a fastball in the 90’s and is looking for a bounce back year in 2023.

“Simon is a 6’5” RHP, who we are really excited about, as we think he can really help us,” Bells head coach Jim Clem said. “This will be a big summer for Simon as he will get opportunities to pitch and develop even further. He is known to have excellent stuff and he’s a terrific guy as well.”

Dessureault, who also grew up in Quebec speaking French, will be entering his second season with the Hatters. Last season Dessureault started 42 of the 46 games he appeared in, primarily at second base. Yohann showed his ability to make an impact at the plate last year with 12 multi-hit games, third most in the program.

“Yohann is a versatile player, who gives us options, as he can play multiple positions in both the infield and outfield,” Clem said. “Yohann is physical and very athletic. He’s also a left-handed hitter who has good power, a middle of the order type. He’s a great guy, very dedicated, and a lot of fun too!”

These talented players should bring a lot of energy and excitement to the Bells this summer!

The Bells Opening Day is June 2, 2023 against the Edmonton Riverhawks at Joe Martin Field.
