Bells Announce Incoming Fresno Pacific Players for 2023 Season
The Bellingham Bells are excited to announce new players from Fresno Pacific University, Cole Yoshida and Andrew Valdez.
Yoshida, who will be entering his second year with the Sunbirds, started all 49 games he played in last season as a freshman. He posted a .388 OBP last season and showcased speed on the base paths, taking 12 bases. Yoshida currently has a 100% stolen base percentage to start the year.
“Cole is a talented player known for excellent defense and speed. We know he’ll be a great addition to the team who fans will love watching,” Bells general manager Stephanie Morrell said.
Valdez spent a few years at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif. before heading to Fresno Pacific last season. Last year he started in 48 of the 49 games he played in where he led the team in RBIs with 47 and was named Third Team All-PacWest. Valdez has been a force at the plate this season with eight multi-hit games in only 17 starts.
“Andrew is a seasoned player who can really hit,” Morrell said. “He’s showcasing his talents this year at FPU and we can’t wait to see him at the plate for the Bells.”
The skills and energy these two bring to the Bells will be fun to watch all summer.
The Bells Opening Day is June 2, 2023 against the Edmonton Riverhawks at Joe Martin Field.
