Bells bat around in 5th defeating Falcons 8-3

Jack Erdman left the game with an 8-1 lead after striking out seven with zero walks allowed. He was nearly flawless outside of some 2-out trouble in the 3rd that led to his lone earned run of the game. Besides the two hits in that inning, Erdman avoided hard contact and attacked the strike zone all night.

In the top of the 5th the Bells offense came to life with 1 out. Valdez got the action started with an RBI single after the Falcons pitcher allowed a walk and a hit-by-pitch. The pitcher would then go on to walk two more batters, plating another run and leaving the bases loaded for Brady Reynolds. Reynolds wouldn’t waste much time, attacking the first pitch he saw and blasting it into the left-center gap, clearing the bases and putting the Bells on top 6 to 1.

Valdez would eventually get the offense going once again in the 6th after placing a base hit into the six-hole. He would go on to advance on a wild pitch and then score on an errant throw by the third baseman.

Thomas Urbina took over in the 6th with a commanding 8 to 1 lead over the home team. After striking out the first two batters he faced, he ran into some trouble. Allowing a walk and 2 hits, leading to the Falcons 2nd run of the game. He was able to avoid the big inning, getting the last batter of the inning to fly out to center field.

Ryan Orr took over in the bottom of the 8th with an 8 to 2 lead looking to put the game away. He was able to overcome an unearned run after giving up a 2-out double. He would escape the inning without giving up any more damage and would eventually retire the 9th in order, giving the Bells an 8-3 victory over the Falcons.

The Bells (11-3) remain in sole possession of first place in the North Division after tonight’s game. On June 22, the winner of this away series will be decided at 6:35 p.m.
