Four Pitchers Round Out Returning Bells

BELLINGHAM, WA — On Monday, February 12, 2024, the Bellingham Bells announced the last of the returning players that have signed for the 2024 season. The announcement includes two players spanning back to the 2022 season. This now brings the Bells’ roster number up to 15 returning players.

Marques Brown, a RHP from Bushnell University and a local Whatcom County resident, had a short, but impactful time with the Bells during the 2023 season. He pitched in 3 games and 4 innings and recorded a save.

“Marques impressed during his time with the Bells in late 2023. The combination of a unique arm slot, high velocity and good command made him an electric addition to the back end of the bullpen,” Said Bells General Manager, Stephanie Morrell. “Having grown up in Whatcom County, he knows what the Bells mean to Bellingham and is a fantastic representation of our team. We couldn’t be happier to be welcoming Marques back on a full-time contract this summer.

Eli Knowlton, a RHP from Edmonds College and also a local Bellingham player, had a short 2023 season as well. He appeared in 2 games pitching 3.2 innings and striking out four players in that time.

“Eli is an extremely talented young pitcher with tremendous upside. He has an impressive breaking ball and proved to be a gritty competitor during his limited time with us during the 2023 season,” said Morrell. “ We look forward to having Eli back with us this summer and believe he will be a very solid addition to our pitching staff.”

Zach Elsos, a RHP from LC State, is a returner from the 2022 season. He pitched in 4 games, 8.1 innings, and and 8 strikeouts.

“While with us in 2022, Zach impressed. His side arm delivery, coupled with his high velocity, make him a tough challenge for hitters,” said Morrell. “We are really excited Zach is joining us full-time this summer and look forward to watching him build off a very successful spring and summer season in 2023.”

Chris Foster, a RHP from Montevallo is also a returner from the 2022 season. He pitched in 11 games, 22.2 innings, and recorded an ERA of 0.79.

“Chris is a true competitor. He loves to take the mound and makes it challenging on hitters with a variety of pitches he can throw for strikes,” said Morrell. “It’s very exciting that Chris will be returning to the Bells this year, as he was an important part of our 2022 staff. We can’t wait to have Chris back in a Bells uniform!”

The announcement of our new players will begin next week.
