Fresno Pacific Has Two Players Joining the 2024 Bells Roster
BELLINGHAM, WA — Monday, March 26, the Bellingham Bells announced the addition of two Fresno Pacific Sunbirds to their 2024 roster.
Gabe Henderson is a sophomore shortstop for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds. He is currently batting .323, the fourth highest on the team. Henderson has the second most hits on the team and the most walks for a team high .433 on-base percentage.
Henderson earned 2nd Team All-PacWest honors last season for the Academy of Art where he spent his freshman season. In that season he hit 16 extra-base hits with three of them being triples thanks to his speed.
At C.K. McClatchy High School he had a phenomenal career batting average of .438 and earned numerous honors like All-State and All-League selections over his four years.
“Gabe is a great athlete,” said Bells Head Coach, Bob Ralston. “He can play every position on the field and he will be a difference maker for us.”
Trent Mallonee is a junior outfielder for the Sunbirds. He is currently second on the team in batting average (.378) and in 26 games this spring he already has 34 hits, the most for Fresno Pacific.
Before Fresno Pacific Mallonee spent a year at Merced College where he hit .361 and had 45 RBI. In Mallonee’s freshman season he had 180 plate appearances and only struck out ten times showing his phenomenal plate discipline.
Last year Mallonee was an Aggie with Cameron University in Oklahoma. In his sophomore season he once again performed at the plate. Mallonee hit .349 and broke the school record with a 20 game hit streak during the 2023 season.
“Trent is a gamer and he knows how to win,” said Ralston. “He puts the ball in play and is a tough out.”
Last season two Fresno Pacific players made their names known in Bellingham. Cole Yoshida was the starting second baseman and Andrew Valdez led the Bells with a .326 average and crushed four home runs.
The Bellingham Bells will open the 2024 season against Edmonton May 31. Tickets go on sale April 1 at bellstickets.com.
