One Returner, Three New Bells in Latest 2025 Roster Announcement
BELLINGHAM, WA — Monday, February 3, the Bellingham Bells announced the return of four 2025 roster additions. One returner, Tyler Van Dyke, and three new Bells out of Stanford, Colt Peterson, Sammy Petrocelli and Brock Sell.
Van Dyke, a right-handed pitcher out of Stetson University, is coming back to Bellingham after being the 2024 West Coast League All Star game’s starting pitcher. The 6-foot-2 pitcher threw in seven games, six being starts, for the Bells last summer. He was nails for the Bells with his 0.56 ERA in 32 innings pitched.
Overall he had a 4-0 record for Bellingham and struck out 32 batters to nine walks. Van Dyke didn’t allow an earned run until his final start of the 2024 season.
He enters his senior season at Stetson this year after beginning his career at Seminole State College. Last year for Stetson he debuted as a Hatter and threw 29.2 innings mainly out of the bullpen. He picked up two saves, a 2-1 record and struck out 34 batters.
The Eustis, Florida, native rejoins the Bells this summer under a new coaching staff, which will look to keep Van Dyke as a premier right-handed arm in the WCL.
Colt Peterson is a right-handed pitcher from Tustin, California, attending Orange Lutheran High School before joining Stanford in the fall. Peterson enters his senior high school season after an All-Trinity League First Team selection during his junior season.
His high school success landed him on the 2023 USA Baseball National Team Development Program Roster. The program offers top athletes a connection to USA Baseball coaches and staff to better prepare for a future national team experience.
Peterson has been ranked in the top 100 by Baseball America in their 2025 MLB Draft rankings. The righty throws a low-90s fastball with a change-up and curveball that have great spin and break.
Sammy Petrocelli is a 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher who is a freshman at Stanford. This collegiate season will be his first out of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California.
Out of high school he was the 13th best right-handed pitcher in California according to Perfect Game. He throws an efficient three pitch mix with a low to mid-90s fastball, a changeup and a slider.
Petrocelli will come to the West Coast league after spending last summer in the California Collegiate League with the Orange County Riptide. There he made five appearances, one of them a start, for a total of seven innings pitched with nine strikeouts.
Brock Sell is a utility player from Stockton, California, attending Tokay High School. The 6-foot-1 left-handed hitter is ranked 36th in MLB.com’s 2025 draft prospect rankings as an outfielder.
Sell broke into high school baseball with a .433 average as a freshman and most recently batted .413 as a junior. As a result of his yearly success, Sell attended the 2024 Perfect Game National Showcase and displayed his abilities to MLB scouts.
MLB Pipeline has Sell as the 17th best high school prospect in their fall rankings. He will bring his speed and elite batting tools to the West Coast League this season and compete for the Bellingham Bells.
Peterson and Sell will be the newest members of the Stanford Cardinals to play for the Bells. Joining recent names like Charlie Bates, Jack Svinth, Trevor Moore, Brady Reynolds, Brandt Prancer and the Texas Rangers 2024 1st round pick, Malcolm Moore.
The Bells season begins May 30 at Nanaimo NightOwls and will play their first game at Joe Martin Field on June 3 against the Kamloops NorthPaws. Tickets go on sale April 1.
