Bells hire new Head Coach Alan Regier

BELLINGHAM, WA – February 5, 2026 – The Bellingham Bells announced the hiring of Alan Regier as head coach for the 2026 season. Regier becomes the 17th head coach in Bells history, replacing Ed Knaggs, who left Bellingham to take an assistant baseball coach position at Gonzaga University.

“We are deeply grateful to coach Knaggs for his time in Bellingham, and were sorry to see him go,” Bells President and GM Stephanie Morrell said. “But we are excited and encouraged to find such a great replacement in the way of Alan Regier. He is well prepared to carry the torch and continue the tradition of high-integrity, development-focused baseball here in Bellingham.”

Regier comes to Bellingham having most recently spent time as a Major League advance scout for the Colorado Rockies from 2022 to 2025. Regier’s most recent coaching experience was in 2021 as the manager of the Greenville Flyboys in the Appalachian League.

“I’m excited to join the Bellingham Bells organization and to help shape the next generation of players,” Regier said. “I’ve been fortunate to experience baseball at its highest level, and now I get to share those lessons with players chasing their own dreams.”

With the Flyboys, Regier was named manager of the year after winning the West Division title. He has over 30 years of scouting MLB experience spending time with the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers.

The majority of his career was spent with the White Sox from 2005 to 2020 as a scout, farm director and field coordinator. His professional experience brings a unique skillset to the Bellingham Bells for the 2026 season.

Regier played collegiate baseball at Chabot College and the University of Arizona before playing for the Class-A Redwood Pioneers in the California Angels minor league system. He played one season before retiring from the game and becoming an assistant coach at UC Berkeley from 1982 to 1992.

“During our search, it became clear that Regier was a great fit for our program,” Morrell said. “He has a wealth of experience — over forty years — around the game as a scout, coach and teacher. He is a high-integrity individual, highly recommended to us by people in the industry we trust. We know he will be a great leader for the 2026 Bellingham Bells.”

This summer, Regier takes control of the Bellingham Bells, who are the reigning West Coast League Champions. Joining Regier on the Bells coaching staff will be pitching coach Jim Clem, associate pitching coach Cody Anderson and assistant coach Riley Parker.

“Baseball’s always been about more than just the game,” Regier said. “It’s about the fans, the families and the memories you make along the way. We’re going to play the game the right way — with energy, purpose and pride in putting on the Bells uniform.”

The Bells home opener is June 2, 2026 at Joe Martin Field.
