Three pitchers added to 2026 roster
BELLINGHAM, WA — Friday, March 6, the Bellingham Bells announced the additions of three pitchers to the 2026 roster. Mason Chien, Jacob Petersen and Adam Jay are all heading to Joe Martin Field this summer.
Mason Chien is a junior right-handed pitcher from the University of British Columbia. He joined the Thunderbirds this season after two seasons at the University of Fraser Valley.
At Fraser Valley he collected a career ERA of 2.78 and had 78 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched. Last summer he pitched for the Kamloops NorthPaws in the West Coast League and had a 4.18 ERA in 28 innings.
Chein was part of the Whalley Major Allstars in 2016, who won the Little League British Columbia Championship and an opportunity to play for a bid to the Little League World Series. He joins the Bells for a second-straight season in the WCL this summer.
Jacob Petersen joins the Bells from Chaminade as a junior right-handed pitcher. He transferred to the NCAA DII Silverswords from Everett Community College where he had two dominant seasons in the Northwest Athletic Conference.
With Everett, Petersen pitched a career 1.08 ERA in 25 innings as a relief pitcher and had 18 punch outs. He tossed an 0.88 WHIP and collected one save in his sophomore season where he pitched in 11 appearances.
He’s familiar to the Pacific Northwest coming from Skyline High School in Sammamish. With the Spartans he tossed a no-hitter in his junior season and was all-conference honorable mention and second team during his prep career.
He’ll make his WCL debut this summer with the Bellingham Bells.

Jay is from Tahoma High School in Maple Valley where he was the No. 5 left-handed pitcher in all of Washington according to Perfect Game. He was named to the All-League NPSL first team in his junior season.
This year with the Red Devils, Jay’s tossed eight innings out of the bullpen with a 1-0 record and has struck out six batters. He’ll join the Bells this season for his first collegiate summer league experience in his young career.
