Bells open 2026 season with a 5-0 win
KELOWNA — The Bellingham Bells began the 2026 season on the road and took down the Kelowna Falcons 5-0 to open the season with a win. Bellingham and Kelowna face off at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow, May 30 at Elks Stadium.
The Bells strung together three hits in the first inning to score the game’s first run. Aspen Alexander and Tyler Peshke singles and Alexander scored on a base knock from Nate Johnson.
Starting pitcher Charlie Decker took the mound with a 1-0 lead and retired the Falcons in order. In the second inning, Matt Churchill was hit by a pitch and Ty Rusko singled. Tristan Schaefer brought in both runners to give Bellingham a 3-0 lead.
Schaefer singled to lead off the fifth inning and after a hit by Alexander, Schaefer scored on an RBI base hit from Peshke. Decker finished five scoreless innings with only one hit and two walks allowed.
Braden Blackwell came in for two relief innings and kept the Falcons scoreless. The Bells scored their fifth run of the game on a sacrifice fly from Johnson that scored Noah Cassie, who had led off the eighth inning with a walk.
Ryder Dingsdale was perfect in the eighth and ninth innings on the mound with no base runners allowed. He struck out four Falcons on his way to closing out Bellingham’s season-opening win.
Peshke and Alexander both went 2-for-4 at the plate with Alexander scoring and Peshke knocking in a run. Schaefer and Johnson both collected an RBI and Schaefer was one of five Bells to touch home plate. Rusko, Churchill and Cassie all scored.
The Bells will look to earn a series win over the Falcons in tomorrow’s game that begins at 6:35 p.m. Bellingham’s home opener is on June 2 against the Wenatchee AppleSox at 6:35 p.m.
