KAMLOOPS — Bellingham was able to work around 17 hits by the Kamloops NorthPaws to earn an 11-6 win on Saturday, July 18 at Norbrock Stadium. The Bells scored six runs in the final two innings to even the series against Kamloops and set up a 12:05 rubber game Sunday, July 19 to decide the series.

Kamloops held a 3-0 lead following a three-inning start by Parker Warner. The Stanford right hander gave up six hits and walked one batter to allow three earned runs. Warner struck out two batters, but went on to not receive a decision. 

Bellingham scored its first runs of the game in the fourth inning. Dillon Moss hit a sacrifice fly and Rominic Quiban had an RBI groundout, which made it 3-2 with the Bells trailing. David Wiser tossed the next two frames on the mound.

Matt Churchill delivered a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning that tied the game. Wiser was tagged for a solo home run in the bottom of the inning and also allowed a run-scoring double that regained Kamloops the lead at 5-3.

Bo Shinkle came through with an RBI double in the sixth inning to chip away at the deficit. Gavin Hasche pitched in relief for Wiser, who finished two innings with four hits allowed for two runs while striking out five.

Tyler Peshke drove in a run in the seventh inning to notch a 5-5 tie. Hasche continued his scoreless streak with two frames of relief. The Texas A&M Corpus Christi right-handed pitcher had tossed nine innings scoreless in five appearances. He struck out four and allowed four hits against Kamloops.

KG Hattori gave the Bells their first lead of the night with a two-RBI triple in the eighth inning. Noah Cassie then hit a sacrifice fly that scored Hattori and gave Bellingham an 8-5 lead for Ben McKinnon on the mound.

McKinnon allowed one run in the eighth, but the Bells came through with three runs of insurance in the top of the ninth. Bryce Johnson drove in a run on his third hit of the game, Peshke scored on a wild pitch and Johnson scored on the fifth error by the NorthPaws defense. McKinnon finished the ninth without a run against him to earn a two-inning save that featured three strikeouts.

Johnson was the team leader in hits with three and he scored each time he reached base. Peshke and Shinkle both had two hits and each drove in a run while Peshke scored twice and Shinkle once. Hattori’s triple was his only hit as he collected two RBI and a run scored.
