AppleSox down Bells 10-5 Friday

Box Score

WENATCHEE — The Bellingham Bells fell to the Wenatchee AppleSox in the first game of their three-game series on Saturday, July 25 at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium in Wenatchee. The AppleSox had a seven-run third inning that helped them drop the Bells to 26-17.

Rohan Kasanagottu was Bellingham’s starter and Wenatchee tagged him for one early run in the first inning. The Bells took a 2-1 lead following a two-RBI single from Jaden Jackson, but that lead wouldn’t last long.

The AppleSox only had one walk through the first two innings and were without a hit. They tagged Kasanagottu in the bottom of the third for seven runs on five hits, three walks and one error. Two runs scored unearned against Kasanagottu in his 2-2/3 innings and he took the first loss of his Bells career.

Matt Churchill tripled with the bases loaded in the fifth, but the Bells still trailed 8-5. Caleb Sebek finished 4-1/3 innings of long relief with only allowing one hit and a walk while striking out three. Ben McKinnon gave up two runs (one earned) in the eighth on two walks, one hit and one error.

The Bells wouldn’t score and fell 10-5. Churchill led the team with three RBI and had two hits including his triple. Dillon Moss and KG Hattori both scored twice with one hit each. Jaden Jackson’s two RBI knock was Bellingham’s only other hit as the team totaled five on Friday while striking out 12 times at the plate.

Bellingham looks to even the series against the AppleSox in Saturday’s game starting at 6:35 p.m.
