WENATCHEE — The Bellingham Bells claimed a road series win over the Wenatchee AppleSox with a dominating 18-5 win on Sunday, July 26. Bellingham is now 28-17 and will travel to Oregon to face the Marion Berries for three gamesTuesday through Thursday.

The Bells scored a run in every inning but the fourth in the win and a five-run seventh plus a seven-run eighth helped turn the game into a blowout late. Jaden Jackson scored the first run of the game on a balk. KG Hattori knocked in a run with a single in the second. In the third, Bo Shinkle singled and an outfield error helped another run score.

Bellingham starter Robby Zimmerman allowed his first runs of the summer as he pitched two innings and surrendered four hits and two walks for three runs. It was 3-3 when Kole Laubach took over and he pitched the next three frames to earn his third win of the season after not allowing a hit.

Wenatchee did take a 4-3 lead in the fourth, but Tyler Peshke sent one run in to tie it in the fifth and Rasad Hayes had an RBI groundout in the sixth to give the Bells a 5-4 lead. Charlie Decker pitched the next three innings in relief.

Peshke started the five-run seventh inning with a sacrifice fly. Rominic Quiban drove in one run with a base hit to right field. Hattori came through with a two-RBI double and Dillon Moss scored on a wild pitch.

Decker allowed one run in the bottom of the inning, which was his only one surrendered in relief. Decker allowed two hits and one walk across three innings.

In the eighth, Peshke once again started the big inning with an RBI that came on a single this time. Moss drove in a run with a hit, Hattori once again swatted in a run and a Wenatchee error helped extend the inning and allowed a run to score. Matt Churchill doubled to add on two more runs and cap the seven-run inning.

Moss picked up the final RBI in the ninth on a groundout and Cal Young took the ball for the final inning with the Bells up 18-5. Young was perfect in the ninth inning and Bellingham took revenge for their series loss at home to the AppleSox during the home opener series in June.

Hattori led the Bells with four hits and four RBI and he scored once. Peshke picked up three hits and three RBI. Churchill and Nate Johnson both had a pair of hits. Shinkle, Jackson, Quiban and Moss each touched home plate three times during the high-scoring affair.

Bellingham faces Marion for three games and returns home for a six-game home stand beginning on July 31 to finish off the regular season.
