SALEM — It was another strong offensive night for the Bellingham Bells as they took down the Marion Berries 9-7 to claim the series on Wednesday, July 29. The Bells had 14 hits and hit two home runs to aid in the comeback win.

The Berries held the game’s first lead after tagging Bellingham’s starter Kaden Nicholls for two runs in the second inning. Nicholls allowed two hits and three walks in his two innings of work and struck out two batters.

Ryder Dingsdale pitched two innings of relief out of the Bells bullpen and held the score at 2-0 with Marion leading. Dingsdale allowed one hit and had two strikeouts. 

The Bells took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Noah Cassie drove in their first run of the game and Bo Shinkle followed with a two-RBI single to make it 3-2.

Jameson Connolly pitched in relief and had a scoreless bottom of the fifth in his debut game with the Bells. Bellingham added two more runs to its lead after Rashad Hayes hit a two-run home run. Connolly held Marion to a zero in the sixth and picked up his first win of the summer.

An error by the Berries helped the Bells score their first run of the seventh inning. Cassie then hit a two-run double to make it 8-2. Connolly didn’t gain an out in the seventh and was pulled after allowing two runs. Geoffrey McArthur took over for his first-ever Bellingham Bells outing and allowed a three-run home run to his first batter.

Connolly’s final line was two innings pitched with two hits and three walks allowed for four runs (three earned) with one strikeout. McArthur finished the seventh with no more runs against him and exited his lone inning with an 8-7 lead. 

Matt Churchill led off the eighth inning with a solo home run, which was his second of the series and fifth of the season. David Wiser pitched the eighth and ninth innings to earn a six-out save after he didn’t allow a hit and only walked one batter while striking out three.

Cassie led the Bells going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Hayes had a pair of hits and scored three times while driving in two runs. Jaden Jackson picked up two knocks and scored twice. Churchill had two hits including his solo home run. Tyler Peshke went 2-for-3 and scored once.

The Bells now look for a series sweep of the Marion Berries in Thursday’s game at 6:35 p.m. Bellingham will return home for six straight home games to finish the 2026 season beginning Friday, July 31 at 6:35 p.m. Tickets for the final home stand are on sale at bellstickets.com.
