SALEM — An 11-run second inning helped the Bellingham Bells capture their fourth sweep of the season in the third straight win against the Marion Berries on Thursday, July 30. The Bells took a 14-1 win and are headed home for the final six games of the regular season.

Parker Warner started what was as equally of a dominant night by the pitchers as it was the hitters. Warner went four innings in his start and struck out nine batters while only allowing one hit and one walk.

The 11-run second inning began with a two-RBI hit by KG Hattori. Rashad Hayes hit a double to score a run and Jaden Jackson delivered a two-RBI knock that made it 5-0. Dillon Moss drove in two more runs on a single. A duo of errors allowed back-to-back runs to score and Rominic Quiban sent in the inning’s final two runs on a base hit to make it 11-0.

Caleb Sebek inherited the fifth inning on the mound and earned the win despite surrendering the Berries lone run of the game during the sixth inning. Sebek had five strikeouts and allowed three walks and two hits for one run across his three relief innings. Nate Johnson and Moss both had RBI doubles in the sixth and entering the seventh the Bells led 13-1.

Tyler Peshke delivered the final run-scoring hit of the night with a single in the eighth. Frank Willius picked up two strikeouts in a scoreless eighth inning and Adam Jay capped off the win in the ninth with a double play finishing off the series sweep.

Moss led the Bells with three hits and three RBI. Johnson scored three times and had one RBI on his two hits. Quiban and Jackson both had two hits and two RBI. Hayes was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

The Bellingham Bells are now back home for the next six days in a row to finish the regular season. They’ll host the Victoria HarbourCats Friday to Sunday with a three-game series versus the Edmonton Riverhawks to end the regular season. 

At 31-17, the Bells are the second-best team in the West Coast League’s North Division. Since the Wenatchee Applesox, who won the first half, are also leading the second half race, the Bells would earn the second seed in the WCL postseason if the season ended today. Bellingham has a .646 winning percentage while Edmonton, Nanaimo and Victoria all rest at .542 trailing the Bells.
