Three Bulldogs Join the Bellingham Bells
The Bellingham Bells are excited to welcome RHP Brody Jessee, RHP Kai Francis and outfielder Grayson Sterling from Gonzaga University to the 2021 roster.
Jessee is a sophomore who hails from Anchorage, Alaska. He ran track and field at South Anchorage High School and was awarded the Wade Blasingame Top Pitcher award after his senior season in 2019.
“He’s a power pitcher, who also has quality sink on his fastball,” Bells pitching coach/recruiting coordinator Jim Clem said. “Brody’s off-speed pitches are good too. Brody definitely has the stuff to be dominate. He’s known for being a tough competitor and also for being a great guy! We are looking forward to the positive energy that he will bring into our clubhouse."
Sterling is a redshirt sophomore from Boise, Idaho. He has experience within the West Coast League having played for the Ridgefield Raptors in 2019. Sterling is credited with the first official hit and scoring the first official run in Raptors’ history.
“Grayson is a big, physical, middle of the order type hitter,” Clem said. “He’s a LHH who demonstrates some serious power, but that’s not all, he’s a good hitter as well. He’s going to help us as a corner outfielder. Grayson is known to be a high character individual and is a great presence in the clubhouse. We are looking forward to having him be a Bell!”
Francis will graduate this spring from Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge, Wash., and depart to Bellingham. He will bring a large 6-foot-3 frame to the mound this summer with room for growth.
“Can’t wait to watch Kai pitch this summer!” Clem said. “He’s a young pitcher with a bright future. Even though COVID-19 made playing baseball difficult this past year, Kai made the Area Code team. He has excellent control of 3 pitches, has very good feel for all of them, which is exciting because it allows him to be used in most any role. He’s a great kid, very mature in many ways. Kai’s going to be fun to watch!”
All three Bulldogs will bring size, power and skill to Joe Martin Field this summer.
It’s Game Time!
