Dads Day at the Park
“Take me out to the ball game, take me out to the crowd?” the Dads say to their kids, and that is just what happened today at Joe Martin Field. Dad’s and their sons and daughters came out to the field and watched the Bellingham Bells defeat the Cascade Collegiate League. Bellingham had a slow start to the game as they were trailing CCL in the top of the third inning 1-0. But the Bell’s picked it up in the bottom of the fifth inning, when they put up two runs. Putting them ahead by one.
The Bellingham Bells started Drew Kadden on the mound and he threw for four innings and had only one run scored against, one hit, and three strikeouts. Drew kept the Bells in the game for the duration of his time. Following Drew, Caleb Cassie, Gibson Marshall-Inman, Nate Rasmussen, and Will Franklin all threw relief for Drew, dividing up the last five innings of the game by only letting in one more hit for CCL.
Bellingham had a bit of a slow start on the offensive side. But they managed to pick it up after some issues were brought up and talked about. The Bells ended up scoring six runs, on eight walks and eight hits. In the fourth inning the Bells loaded the bases but struggled to manufacture runs. But in the fifth inning the bells managed to score two runs to tie it up with CCL. The Bells were finally getting comfortable with the pitching coming out of the opposing pitcher. After those two runs, the Bells continued to feed off that energy later in the seventh and eighth inning scoring two runs in each inning.
After a strong home standing this last week, the Bells are on the road for next few days looking for a win against the Kelowna Falcons on their home turf, but the Bells will return this Friday, June 23rd for their next home game against the Victoria Harbourcats at 6:35 P.M. Go Bells!
