Raptors defeat the Bells in game two

July 9th, the Bellingham Bells played the Ridgefield Raptors for game two. Unfortunately the Bells fell short of the win, taking the loss 10-4.

The Bells struggled on the mound tonight giving up 13 hits, 10 runs nine of which earned, and six walks. Starting on the mound for the Bells tonight was Will Franklin. Franklin threw three innings, allowed two hits, two runs, had three walks, and three strikeouts. This is Franklin’s first loss of the season. Through Franklin’s outing he keeps his ERA low at 0.61. Coming in to relieve Franklin was Ty Saunders who threw .2 innings and gave up 6 hits and seven runs. Luckily for the Bells they have a large pitching staff and have players to pick eachother up when someone isn’t having a great showing. Kadden Drew came in for the last inning and faced six batters, walking one and striking out one. Drew allowed two hits and one run.

Offensively, the Bells fought hard putting up 11 hits. But unfortunately that wasn’t enough to put them on top of the Raptors who racked up 13 hits. Coleman Schmidt hit very well, with four at bats, and three hits two singles and a home run. Schmidt had two RBI’s  and walked once. Nate Kirkpatrick went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI. But Kirkpatrick wasn’t the only one going 2-for-4, Brady Reynolds did the same with two singles. The offense continues to stay hot, and hopefully that will fall for the Bells in their next game.

The Bells play the Ridgefield Raptors on more time at RORC, today at 1:05 P.M. Everett Swaim is likely to take the mound for the Bells in the last game of the series.
