Bells win 3-0 after a Schmidt solo shot and dominate pitching

The NorthPaws couldn’t get anything going all night. Ryan Beitel had a clean start, gathering four shutout frames and only allowing two runners to get into scoring position.

Coleman Schmidt put the Bells ahead in the third inning with his solo home run. On the second pitch and first strike he saw in the at-bat, Schmidt sent the ball just over the left field wall. To put the Bells up 1-0.

Kadden Drew took over for Beitel in the 5th inning. Drew has settled into his relief role nicely, putting away the six batters he faced in order before turning it over to Hunter Long for the 3-inning save opportunity.

With two outs in the 7th inning the Bells were able to string together a couple of hits to add a run to their lead. After Ty Saunders reached first with a single, he would score easily on a Cole Yoshida double that was ripped down the 3rd baseline. Putting the Bells up 2-0.

In the 8th inning, the NorthPaws pitcher wasn’t able to find the strike zone, loading the bases with three consecutive walks before turning it over to their next reliever. The Bells took advantage of the free RBI opportunity with 1 out, Riley Parker hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Andrew Valdez and extend their lead to 3-0.

Hunter Long was able to get through three innings of work without an issue. Recording five Ks and only allowing two hits. The Bells improve their record on the season to 25-15, and the NorthPaws fall to 9-31 on the season.

The Bells take on the NorthPaws again at 6:35 p.m. July 22.
