Two CSUN and UCSB Players Join Roster
BELLINGHAM, WA — On Monday, February 26, 2024, the Bellingham Bells announced that an outfielder and a left-handed pitcher from California State University (Northridge) and a right-handed and left-handed pitcher from the University of California Santa Barbra would be joining the 2024 roster.
California State University, Northridge
Brandon Leon, an outfielder from La Quinta, California, played in 28 games in 2023, starting in 16 of those as a true freshman at CSUN. Leon had 17 hits, 8 RBI and two homeruns.
“Brandon is a scrappy hard-nosed player and a great teammate,” said Bells Head Coach Bob Ralston. “He is a good outfield defender who has a knack of getting on base. He will be a great addition to the Bells this summer.”
Junior, Justin Vose, a left-handed pitcher, heads to Bellingham this summer. Vose spent three seasons at Cuesta College where he was named second-team all-conference in 2023 before transferring to CSUN.
“We look forward to having Justin pitch for the Bells,” said Ralston. “He is a big athletic LH pitcher with a smooth delivery. He can pound the zone and we know that fans will love watching Justin compete at Joe Martin Field.”
University of California, Santa Barbara
Peter Storjohann, a right-handed pitcher, transferred to UCSB from Diablo Valley College where he was named Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Big 8, Second Team All-State, helping Diablo Valley reach the CCCAA Regionals for the first time since 2014.
“Peter brings a live arm to the Bells pitching staff. He had great success in his first year of collegiate baseball and we look forward to watching him continue to grow this year,” said Bells General Manager Stephanie Morrell. “He’s known for being a strike thrower who doesn’t give up many hits. We are excited to be continuing our connection with UCSB and think Peter will be an awesome addition to the roster.”
Nic Peterson, a left-handed pitcher, enters his freshman year at UCSB. In 2023, he was named as All-Trinity League Second Team during his senior year.
“Nick is an excellent young pitcher. He loves to compete and had a lot of success in his prep career,” said Morrell. “He is known to be a great teammate, and we can’t wait to have him here with the Bells.”
The Bells Opening Day is May 31, 2024 against the Edmonton Riverhawks at Joe Martin Field. Tickets go on sale on April 1st.
