Bells win 5-0 vs the Falcons
In the first game of a three-game series at Kelowna against the Falcons the Bellingham Bells got a 5-0 shutout win on June 14 at Elks Stadium in Kelowna, British Columbia.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Bells and improved their record to 7-6. This is the first win against Kelowna for the Bells in a North Division battle.
Bellingham Bells starting pitcher Ryan Beitel had his third start of the season and grabbed his second win of the year. In five innings Beitel gave up three hits while striking out five, Beitel now has seventeen strikeouts in fifteen innings.
The Bells scored in the second inning three times thanks to an error by the Falcon’s pitcher Zachary Sutton on a pick-off attempt and an error by shortstop Brecken Menuet. Jason Shedlock reached on an error by second baseman Cameron Sewell in the fifth inning and would score.
With a 4-0 lead, all the Bells runs were scored unearned against Sutton. The lone earned run would score in the sixth inning against Dylan Vinson. Gabe Henderson drove a single into right field to score Danny Witters and give the Bells their 5-0 lead.
Jacob Mejia extended his hitting streak to six games with a multi-hit day at the plate. Mejia is also hitting a team high .340 at the plate. The left-handed first baseman out of Cal St. San Bernardino has been an excellent addition to the Bells lineup in 2024 and he hit his fifth double of the year today.
Gabe Henderson, Conner Smith, Danny Witters, and Jason Shedlock all reached as part of the six hits recorded by the Bellingham Bells. The Bells defensively committed zero errors compared to Kelowna’s three that cost them multiple runs tonight.
The Bells look to take the series up north tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at Elks Stadium in Kelowna, British Columbia. After this weekend series the Bells will return to Bellingham for three games against the Kamloops NorthPaws from Tuesday thru Thursday, June 18-20.
