Bells Roundup March 5

Welcome back to the Bells weekly roundup; a new series where we highlight what our current and alumni Bells are up to in the MLB, MiLB, NCAA, NAIA, JUCO and more. We want to keep you in the loop on the amazing things our players are doing when they aren’t in a Bells uniform. Let’s look at this week’s highlights.

Max Hartman is on 🔥

The former Bellingham Bells outfielder is having a career-best start to 2025. The lefty-swinging junior for Washington State is batting .381 in 42 at-bats. This week, he crushed his first home run of the season and his fifth career bomb for the Cougars.

Dean West’s pop continues

Maybe there’s something about left-handed swinging outfielders that used to play for the Bellingham Bells because much like Hartman, Dean West is swinging well in 2025. We mentioned in last week’s roundup that Dean West had a hot start to the season and right after we published our first roundup he went and hit another home run; his second of the year after not having one in his career entering this season for UCLA.

Daryl Ruiz breaks CSUSB home run record

The former Bellingham Bells first baseman Daryl Ruiz broke Cal St. San Bernardino’s career home run record with a home run in the first inning against San Francisco State on March 1. It was his 28th career bomb and was part of a series against San Francisco State where Ruiz had already hit a walk-off double.

Another Colton Bower 💣

Two-time Bellingham Bells catcher Colton Bower hit his third home run of the season for the University of Washington Huskies at the
Las Vegas College Baseball Classic. The right-handed batter is having a stellar sophomore season hitting .359 in 39 at-bats and over half of his hits have gone for extra bases.

Will Anderson continues to shove

The University of British Columbia left-handed pitcher Will Anderson continues to have a dominant start in 2025. Last week we highlighted his Cascade Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week award and this week he’s still rolling. He pitched 7.2 innings against Lewis-Clark State College  and carried a no-hitter entering the eighth inning. Anderson struck out eight batters and has 29 strikeouts this season in 20.2 innings.

Aiden Aguayo’s swing is looking sweet

The future Bellingham Bell Aiden Aguayo has come out of the gates hot in his senior season at La Mirada High School. The right-handed swinging infielder is committed to UCLA for the fall but is set to become a Bell this summer. We are excited to see if his hot hitting carries over into the 2025 West Coast League season.

Seth Martinez is back in the PNW

Former Bellingham Bell Seth Martinez was claimed by the Seattle Mariners from the Miami Marlins and is now on the M’s 40-man roster. The right-handed pitcher from Peoria, Arizona, was a key piece of the 2014 WCL Championship winning Bellingham Bells. Martinez is a former West Coast League Pitcher of the Year after he had the league’s lowest ERA (2.07), was third in the WCL for wins (6) and fifth for strikeouts (50).

Kody Hoese racking up the RBI

Former Bellingham Bell Kody Hoese is swinging the bat well in the cactus league for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hoese was a Bell during the 2017 summer season and played in seven games for Bellingham. For the Dodgers this spring, Hoese has four hits, two for extra-bases, and has drove in six runs mainly with the help of this bases-clearing double against the San Diego Padres.
