This has been an amazing spring for our Bells alumni and we are so close to the 2025 season, which begins on May 30. Thanks for sticking with us during the offseason and checking in on all our former and current Bells that are still swinging and pitching away while not in the Bells uniform.

Trent Mallonee lands on All-PacWest squad

The senior outfielder topped off his Fresno Pacific career with another All-PacWest selection. Mallonee was named to the third team after hitting .342 and popping five home runs with 13 stolen bases. Mallonee exits his Sunbirds career with two All-PacWest selections in two seasons after being on the second team last season.

Mini roster update

As we inch closer to the WCL’s Opening Day we want to make sure you stay updated on what to expect from our Bells this summer. Recently we had a few new players added to our 2025 roster.

• Preston Watkins joins the Bells roster as a right-handed pitcher from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He is in his junior season throwing 23.2 innings so far with a 4.56 ERA in two starts and nine bullpen appearances. Watkins had 18 strikeouts during his time this season.
• Chihiro Sato is headed to Bellingham from Edmonds College after pitching a 2.79 ERA in 51.2 innings over seven starts — two were complete games — and four bullpen appearances. Sato struck out 34 batters to 10 walks. The right-handed pitcher comes to Bellingham as a native of Tokyo, Japan.
• Loreto Siniscalchi becomes a Bell after two seasons with the Victoria HarbourCats in 2022 and 2023. Siniscalchi has spent collegiate time at Washington State University, Yavapai College and Bushnell University. With Bushnell this season, the right-handed pitcher threw 27.1 innings with a 5.27 ERA, racking up 25 strikeouts along the way.
• Blake Balsz joins the long list of UCLA Bruins to play for the Bells during the summer. The catcher joins the 2025 roster batting  .279 in 111 at-bats in 33 starts and 5 bench appearances this season. Despite not showing extreme extra-base power, Balsz walked 31 times this year for a .464 on-base percentage. Balsz played in the WCL for Yakima Valley in 2023 so this will be his second stint in the premier league of the West Coast.
• Noah Figuered won’t have to travel far to join the Bells this summer since the infielder played for Edmonds College this season as a freshman. Figuered hit .285 this spring with 32 RBI and a remarkable 22 stolen bases. The El Cajon native will look to bring a dynamic speed asset to the Bells infield this summer.
• Alex Fernandes is back in Bellingham out of San Jose State. The outfielder was with the Bells in 2022 for a short period and now returns as a senior batting .359 for the Spartans this season that has been his career’s best. Fernandes has 65 hits this season with 16 extra-base hits and 14 stolen bases.

UBC Baseball on a magical run

The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds are headed to the NAIA World Series tournament for the first time since 2006. The UBC roster features many Bellingham Bells, including 2024 alumni Ryan Beitel, Ryan Heppner, Will Anderson and Dylan Myttenar. The Thunderbirds season continues May 23 when the NAIA World Series tournament begins.

Kyle Stowers did it again

We’ve talked a lot about Stowers this season and rightfully so. The 2017 alum had a hot start to 2025 with a walk-off hit, a couple big home runs and overall a career start. Stowers had a .206 batting average over his first two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. He had hit .306 in 2024 in minimal at-bats before being traded to the Miami Marlins and he struggled at first in his full time role to finish last season. In 2025 he’s making a case for his first all-star selection batting .300 with a ridiculous 10 home runs after having six over his first three seasons in the bigs.
