The Bellingham Bells evened their series against the Victoria HarbourCats with a dominating 14-3 win Saturday, June 14 at Wilson’s Group Stadium in Victoria, British Columbia.

Andrew Lamb crushed two home ones, one of them a grand slam, as part of an RBI performance at the plate. The Bells totaled a season high 16 hits as a team in the offensive showcase.

Victoria did score first with a two-run first inning against Bells starter Ivan Rodriguez. With two outs in the second, the Bells capitalized on an error by the HarbourCats to extend the inning and later load the bases. After an RBI infield single by Brock Sell, Lamb came to the plate and hit a grand slam over the right-center field wall.

Noah Cassie scored on a wild pitch in the third inning after reaching on a single to give the Bells a 6-2 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Lamb went yard again, this time smoking a three-run home run over the right field wall. Rodriguez finished his four-inning start with eight hits and three walks allowed, but just the two early runs and struck out two.

Bellingham’s bats didn’t cool off and they rattled off two more runs in the fifth. Sell and Nico Azpilcueta picked up RBIs on a groundout and a walk that put the Bells up 11-2.

Cal Young came out of the bullpen and surrendered one run to the HarbourCats in the bottom of the fifth. Dylan Huntsman pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

An RBI groundout by Azpilcueta and a sacrifice fly from Nate Kirkpatrick kept Bellingham with a sturdy 13-3 lead. Will Franklin entered the game for the seventh and ninth innings and struck out two without allowing a hit. Colt Peterson finished the game with a scoreless ninth inning on the mound.

Lamb finished his tremendous game with another RBI in the eighth on a sacrifice fly. Lamb was 3-for-3 at the plate with two walks, eight RBIs and three runs scored. It was the best performance of the season by a Bell and will get him in the conversation for WCL Player of the Week.

Sell also had a three-hit game with two runs and an RBI. Alex Fernandes, Bobby Pierce Jr., Kirkpatrick and Cassie all had two-hit games at the plate with Pierce Jr. scoring three runs from the nine spot.

The ridiculous offensive performance for the Bells featured 10 walks and 16 hits that scored a season-high 14 runs. The Bells (10-4) look to take this momentum into a 6:35 p.m. matchup against the HarbourCats (7-7) that will determine the series on Vancouver Island.
