BELLINGHAM — Bellingham was on fire in a 17-1 win over the Port Angeles Lefties on Tuesday, June 23 at Joe Martin Field. The Bells had 15 hits on offense with four home runs, including a three-home run game by Noah Cassie that helped Bellingham win its eighth game in a row.

The Bells scored eight runs in the first inning after a two-out error by the Lefties began the scoring. With the inning extended, Bellingham scored six more runs on RBI by Aspen Alexander, Brandon Leon, Jaden Jackson and Jake Lyall. 

Cassie led off the second inning with a solo home run. The Bells were up 9-0 after three innings when starter Lathan Haywood exited the game. The right-handed pitcher tossed three scoreless frames in the no-decision.

Alexander doubled home a run in the fourth inning to give Bellingham a 10-0 lead. Parker Warner had a perfect debut in the fourth with a 1-2-3 inning on the mound. Adam Jay pitched the fifth inning, which earned him his first win of the season.

Cassie hit another leadoff home run in the sixth inning, which started a five-run frame for the Bells. Jackson launched a three-run home run in the inning and Alexander collected another RBI with a single.

In the seventh, Cassie was up with a runner on first and hit his third, and farthest, home run of the game. It was an incredible three-homer night for the three-time Bellingham Bell. His two-run homer were Bellingham’s final two runs of the game.

Braden Blackwell had three relief innings and surrendered one run in the eighth. Thrasher Steed closed the door with a scoreless ninth. Bellingham allowed just six hits and struck out six batters as a staff with seven walks issued.

Cassie was 3-for-5 with three home runs, four RBI and three runs scored. Jackson went 3-for-6 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored. Alexander had three hits with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. Lyall was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run. Tyler Peshke collected a pair of hits and scored a run.

The Bells are 16-6 in a tie for first place in the North Division with the Wenatchee AppleSox. There are five games remaining in the West Coast League first half, and the first half divisional champions earn an automatic playoff berth.

Bellingham aims for another series victory and ninth-straight win in tomorrow’s game, which begins at 6:35 p.m.
