BELLINGHAM, WA — Monday, April 8, the Bellingham Bells announced the addition of Skagit Valley’s Bryce Johnson, and Lidership Christian Academy’s Jorge Olivera.

Bryce Johnson is in his sophomore season at Skagit Valley. For the Cardinals he is hitting .265 with 11 extra-base hits in 21 games. He has driven in 12 runs and has a perfect fielding percentage in the outfield this spring.

Johnson led Skagit Valley in doubles, 11, and RBI, 36, his freshman season. His defense earned him a gold glove but his bat and glove earned him North Region 2nd Team.

The Meridian High School graduate spent last summer with the Nanaimo NightOwls of the North Division in the West Coast League. He played in 15 games for the NightOwls and committed zero fielding errors in left and right field.

“Bryce is a local talent known for a strong bat and great athleticism. He’s a talented outfielder and we’re excited that Bryce will be joining us to represent his hometown team this summer,” Bells General Manager Stephanie Morrell said.

Jorge Olivera is an outfield prospect from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is coming out of high school at Lidership Christian Academy where he became a top 500 prospect according to perfect game.

The 6-foot-4 outfielder bats right-handed and was a Preseason Canada/Puerto Rico All-Region 1st Team selection this year.

Olivera was selected to the 16U Perfect Game Memorial Day Classic All-Tournament team in 2022. He has been named to eight other Perfect Game All-Tournament team selections during his prep career.

“Jorge is an exciting addition to this year’s team,” Morrell said. “He is the team’s first player from Puerto Rico, and a very athletic and strong player. Jorge will bring some depth to the lineup and be a very strong presence in center field.”
