BELLINGHAM, WA — Wednesday, March 20, the Bellingham Bells announced that two California State University of San Bernardino players will join the 2024 roster.

Jacob Meija is a junior first baseman that has made eight starts with seven hits, two being doubles and one a home run for CSUSB this spring.

Last season he hit .407 with College of the Desert and was a First Team All-Conference selection in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.

Mejia stands at 6-foot even and has a lefty swing that helped him lead Palm Desert High School to a conference championship as a junior when he hit .330 at the plate that year.

“Jacob can definitely hit and we’re excited for him to bring some offensive spark to the lineup. He is continuing to improve and grow as a player and we can’t wait to see what he does with the Bells,” said Bells Head Coach, Bob Ralston.

Jason Shedlock is a junior for Cal State San Bernardino where he has spent his entire career. He has a career batting average of .338 in college and hit 15 extra-base hits last season.

The lefty swinging infielder has nine games with multiple hits this spring and leads the Coyotes in hits.

“Jason is a tough out, he’s had a fantastic start to the season with CSUSB.  He is a player who will make things happen in our lineup,” Ralston said.

Last summer Shedlock played with the Springfield Drifters where he played in 27 games and hit .315. He will return once again to the West Coast League and join the Bellingham Bells this summer.

In 2023 the Bells featured two CSUSB Coyotes, Daryl Ruiz and Riley Parker. This summer Parker will return to the Bells as an assistant and introduce these two Coyotes to Joe Martin Stadium.

Bells open the season May 31st against the Edmonton Riverhawks. Mark your calendars for April 1 when tickets go on sale at bellstickets.com
