The Fourth of July was a spectacular night at the ballpark. The Bells sold out with over 3,100 people in attendance. Joe Martin Field had a firework show following the game that was a sight to see. After a long show on the road for the Bells up north, they returned home to play the Kamloops NorthPaws. The NorthPaws are currently 7-21 on the season being last in the West Coast League North.
Daniel Paret started on the mound for the Bells, throwing for four innings only allowing two hits, no runs, no walks, and a whopping nine strikeouts which is the second most strikeouts for him this season following his game earlier in the season against the Nanaimo NightOwls, in which he had 12 strikeouts. Following Paret’s exit the Bells brought in John Pfeffer, Everett Swaim, and James Trimble. Pfeffer gave up two hits and the only run for the evening for the NorthPaws, but was able to strikeout three. Swaim and Trimble both threw an inning each giving up no hits and no runs. Trimble had two strikeouts in three batters faced in the top of the ninth inning.
The Bells offense supported the defense, and had eight hits and five runs in the evening. First baseman, Yohann Dessureault batted .500, with two singles and had one RBI. Ty Saunders had three at bats with two hits, one walk, and batted .666.
After a great game last night, the Bells look to win game two tonight against the NorthPaws again at home, first pitch at 6:35 P.M. Go Bells!
