BELLINGHAM, WA — Friday, March 21, the Bellingham Bells announced the additions of four pitchers to the 2025 roster with three new faces and one returner coming to Joe Martin Field this summer.
Our first new pitcher is Tyler Biddinger, a 5-foot-10 right-handed pitcher out of Newport, Oregon. Biddinger plays for Bushnell University and is in his junior season after pitching for Colorado Northwestern Community College and Chemeketa Community College.
Biddinger will be returning to the West Coast League after pitching for the Springfield Drifters in 2024. There he threw 34.2 innings for a 4.67 ERA out of the Drifters bullpen.
This spring he has seen just 4.1 innings for the Bushnell Beacons but has picked up two saves with the help of three strikeouts.
Last season for Chemeketa CC he threw 20.1 innings and gained a 2-1 record with four saves as a relief pitcher.
Johnny Montgomery is a 6-foot-3 right-handed submarine pitcher from Niagara University. The junior is pitching a 1.50 ERA in his four appearances this season for the Purple Eagles.
This will be his third summer league appearance, his first in the West Coast League. Last summer Montgomery played for the Elizabethton River Riders of the Appalachian League where he threw 22 innings. In 2023 he played for the Winter Garden Squeeze of the Florida Collegiate Summer League.
Before attending Niagara University, Montgomery pitched at Allegany College of Maryland for two seasons. In 2024 he threw a 4.22 ERA in 21.1 innings with a 4-1 record and one save as a bullpen arm
His unique arm slot as a submarine pitcher will be interesting to see come out of the Bells bullpen this summer.
Jackson Dial is a 6-foot-1 right-handed pitcher who is committed to Washington State University out of Stevens High School in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Dial entered the 2025 high school season as the number two ranked pitcher in his state by Perfect Game. His fastball is already touching high 80s entering his senior year of high school and his breaking balls have shown great break.
Dial had committed to Arizona State initially but ended up changing his destination to Washington State University for this upcoming fall. Dial will pitch in the West Coast League this summer, which is known for helping develop elite high school arms.
Devyn Hernandez is a returning Bellingham Bell for 2025. The 6-foot-1 right-handed pitcher threw 22.2 innings for the Bells and tied for third in the league for wins with four. Hernandez joined the Bells late in the season but became a premier starter, throwing a 1.19 ERA with a 0.83 WHIP.
I in his junior season with Cal St. San Bernardino, Hernandez threw a 3.93 ERA in 36.2 innings with 37 strikeouts. It was his first season with the Coyotes after playing for Spokane Community College to begin his career.
This will be Hernandez’s fourth summer playing in a summer collegiate league and his third straight in the West Coast League. Hernandez was formerly a Yakima Valley Pippin in 2023 and was a Badland Big Stick in 2022, who at the time were in the Independence League.
All four pitchers will look to continue the history of the Bellingham Bells having one of the best pitching staffs in the West Coast League every summer.
The Bells season begins May 30 in Nanaimo against the NightOwls and the Bells will play their first game at Joe Martin Field on June 3 against the Kamloops NorthPaws. Tickets go on sale April 1.
