The Bellingham Bells returned home from a trip on the road over the weekend to face the Ridgefield Raptors, who they played during the weekend away. After coming off of being 0-3 on the weekend the Bells looked to take a win against the Raptors, but despite Yohann Desserault’s solo home run in the bottom of the first inning the Bells fell short 10-8.

Daniel Paret started on the mound for the Bells, he threw for 1.2 innings and had two strikeouts. Paret struggled on the mound, allowing three hits, four walks, and three runs scored. Making the score 3-1 Raptors up. The Raptors stayed feisty at the plate today having 12 hits against the Bells pitching staff. Trevor Moore came in to relieve Paret and threw 2.1 innings, 36 pitches and 20 for strikes. Moore allowed four runs and gave up five hits, giving the Raptors a 6 run lead. Behind the first two pitchers, Nathan Van Beek and Ryan Orr threw a collective 2.2 innings and had four strikeouts and five hits. Closing for the Bells, Trevin Hope originally from Lynden, WA threw 2.1 innings and had two strikeouts and allowed no hits and no runs. The Bells went through quite a few pitchers tonight, but once their offense started picking up the team was filled with hope again.

Yohann Desserault had a satisfying night at the plate tonight, with two hits, one home run and one triple. Yohann wasted no time and was the first score of the game, his home run. Other than the home run, the offense for the Bells was off to a slow start. Having no other scores until the bottom of the fifth inning when Max Hartman brought in Nate Kirkpatrick on a fielder’s choice to first. While, the sixth inning was quiet, the Bells had a spectacular 7th inning, which must’ve been due the seventh inning stretch. The Bells fired it up when Logan Valtierra came in to pitch for the Raptors, Bellingham saw the opportunity and jumped on it. Valtierra stayed in the game for only .1 of an inning. During his time on the field he gave up three hits, four runs, and one walk to the Bells. Daryl Ruiz took a free base, followed by Colton Bower with a single, Nate Kirkpatrick with another single, and Max Hartman with a single to left field which scored Bower and Ruiz. The Bells still trailing the Raptors 7-4. After two pitching changes made by the Raptors, the Bells managed to score four more runs. Making the score 8-7 putting the Bells in the lead for the first time since the bottom of the first inning.

The Bells were unable to score more during the rest of the game, while the Raptors were able to get two more runs. Which ultimately gave the Raptors the 10-8 win over the Bells in the first game. The Bells play again tonight at home, at 6:35 P.M. for yet another game against the Raptors.
