Bells use Four Pitchers in Shutout Victory against Pippins
Yakima, Wash. — The Bells earned their third shutout victory of the summer 3-0 against the Yakima Valley Pippins.
Starter Eric Chavarria improved his league-best ERA, now 1.17, with three innings, one hit and struck out six.
Infielder Cole Hinkelman knocked a solo home run 394-feet over the right field wall to lead off the second inning.
In the same inning, the Bells had runners on first and second with two outs and Emilio Corona scored AJ Davis and Malakhi Knight on a two-run single to give the Bells a 3-0 lead.
Bells right-hander Justin Tucker was credited with the win and James Spickelmier made his Bells debut. The two pitchers combined for four innings and only gave up one hit while they posted six strikeouts.
Closer Ryan Beitel received the six-out save, his first save of the season.
