BELLINGHAM WA — Monday, March 18, the Bellingham Bells announced that University of British Columbia pitchers, Ryan Heppner and Dylan Myttenar will join the 2024 roster.

Ryan Heppner is a second-year right-handed pitcher that will join the Bells this summer along with many other UBC prospects. Heppner has picked up four wins in five starts for the Thunderbirds this spring and is holding batters to a .198 average at the plate.

“He pounds the zone with multiple pitches and has had a great spring season with UBC last year. We expect Ryan to be a consistent competitor who can really help out the pitching staff and the team,” Bells Head Coach, Bob Ralston said.

With UBC last season he pitched a 3.13 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 72 innings. He was part of the pitching staff that led UBC to a Cascade Collegiate Conference championship for the first time in program history.

“Ryan is a bulldog on the mound,” Ralston said.

Dylan Myttenar will be returning to the Bells after pitching one game during the 2023 season. The left-handed pitcher appeared in relief for the Bells in the August 6th, 2023 matchup against the Port Angeles Lefties.

Myttenar dominated in his lone West Coast League appearance when he threw just 11 pitches resulting in four outs.

In his first year at UBC he has pitched eight innings with one start. He features a two and four-seam fastball, change-up, and a devastating slider with a ton of break.

“He will give us quality innings out of the pen and is a talented young pitcher with a lot of potential and we’re excited to have him back with the Bells,” Ralston said.

These two UBC Thunderbirds will join current teammates Ryan Beitel and Will Anderson in the Bellingham Bells bullpen this summer.
