Bells fall short to Lefties, in 8-4 loss

The Bells once again held their starting pitcher to one inning in tonight’s matchup against the Port Angeles Lefties. Everett Swaim was effective in his lone inning on the mound. Retiring the first three batters in order to end the first inning.

Ty Saunders took over for Everett Swaim in the second inning. Going three innings but allowing three runs after giving up a double with the bases loaded in the third inning.

The Bells offense was able to even up the game in the fifth inning. The two-out rally was kicked off by Coleman Schmidt with his third triple of the season. Dean West got the scoring started with an RBI single. And later stole 2nd, 3rd, and home to get another run for the Bells. Riley Parker scored Andrew Valdez on an RBI double shortly after to make the score 3-3.

In the bottom of the fifth inning PJ Wendler retired the side in order to record the second shutout inning of his summer.

Port Angeles broke through in the sixth inning, scoring four runs which gave the Lefties the advantage for the rest of the game. Riley Parker was able to get a run back in the ninth after scoring Daryl Ruiz on an RBI single, ultimately making the score 8-4 in favor of the Lefties.

The Bells (34-18) will be taking on the Port Angeles Lefties (13-40) once again, tomorrow in their regular season finale. The matinee action is set for 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, August 6.
