Three UCLA Bruins Join the 2024 Bells Roster
BELLINGHAM, WA — Wednesday, March 6th, the Bells announced that two pitchers and one outfielder from the University of California, Los Angeles, will join the 2024 roster.
CJ Bott is the first of two UCLA pitchers coming to Bellingham this summer. Bott is a right-handed pitcher in his senior year for Notre Dame Preparatory School in Scottsdale, AZ. Bott stands at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds and throws a low 90s fastball.
As a junior, Bott had a 3.88 earned run average and threw a no-hitter against Canyon Del Oro High School on March 13, 2023. He earned a First Team All-Conference selection and a spot at the 2023 Perfect Game National Showcase at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
“CJ has a live arm, and the ability to consistently fill the strike zone,” said Bells General Manager Stephanie Morrell. “He’s had a lot of success in his high school career and is known for being a competitor, and a great teammate. It is always a pleasure to work with UCLA and their student-athletes and we look forward to having CJ with us this summer.”
The second UCLA pitcher joining the Bells is Easton Hawk. Hawk is a high school senior at Granada Hills Charter High School. He is a 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher that throws a 94 mph fastball.
Hawk spent his 2023 October at the World Wood Bat Association World Championship developing with the Knights Knation/Dodgers Scout Team. Before his 2024 high school season, Hawk was ranked as the 26th Pacific Region Prospect by Perfect Game.
“Easton is another young pitcher headed to UCLA who we are extremely excited to have on the roster,” said Morrell. “He has a tremendous amount of upside, is very athletic, and will be tough for hitters to deal with. Easton is going to be a great addition to the 2024 Bells.”
Logan DeGroot is the final UCLA Bruin joining the Bells this summer. A current high school senior for Santa Margarita Catholic High School and a member of the 2023 Perfect Game National Showcase roster.
He stands at 6-foot-3 and is the number four ranked outfielder in the state of California according to Perfect Game.
DeGroot helped the Santa Margarita Catholic High School Eagles to a regional championship and was Co-MVP of the Trinity League. He has a career average of .322 entering his senior season of high school.
“Logan is tremendously athletic, known to be a speedy outfielder with a great arm,” said Morrell. “He’s also had a lot of success offensively, we think he’ll bring a nice spark to the Bells lineup and give us some nice depth in the outfield.”
Bells home opener is on May 31st against the Edmonton Riverhawks. Tickets go on sale on April 1st at bellstickets.com
