Bells win fifth-straight series

The Bellingham Bells won their fifth-straight series with an 8-2 win over the Victoria HarbourCats Sunday, June 15 at Wilson’s Group Stadium in Victoria, British Columbia.

The Bells (11-4) are tied for the best record in the North Division with Wenatchee. Bellingham travels back up to Edmonton to play a three-game series that begins Tuesday, June 17 at 6:05 p.m.

Preston Watkins got the start and allowed his only run of the game in the first inning. The offense backed up Watkins with three runs in the third inning after Brock Sell tied the game on an RBI single and Nico Azpilcueta scored two on a double.

In the top of the fourth inning, the HarbourCats committed an error to extend the inning and the Bells took advantage with two bases-loaded walks to score two runs.

Caleb Cassie took the mound in the fifth and pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two. Cassie earned the win by pitching the fifth inning.

Miles Chandler came in relief of Cassie in the bottom of the sixth and allowed one run to Victoria but the Bells still led 5-2.

Another bases-loaded walk in the seventh scored the sixth run for Bellingham and Chandler finished his two relief innings with just the one run allowed.

In the top of the eighth, Andrew Lamb hit a home run, which was his third of the series. Lamb finished the series at Victoria 6-for-10 at the plate with three home runs and nine RBIs. He drew five walks and scored five times.

Chase Halvorson entered in the eights, up 7-2, and pitched two scoreless innings to close the game. Bellingham added one more run in the ninth off Alex Fernandes’ RBI single.

With the win, the Bells claimed their fifth-straight series win to begin the 2025 season and are 11-4 on the season with 12 games are left in the first half of the season.

Sell had another productive day at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs a walk and a run. The Bells had seven hits as a team and drew nine walks.

Bellingham will play Edmonton, who the Bells beat in three games last weekend, Tuesday–Thursday before returning home for a three-game series against the South Division’s Marion Berries.
