Riverhawks rally to win series vs Bells

The Bellingham Bells were on the wrong side of a comeback in their 5-4 loss to the Edmonton Riverhawks Wednesday, July 9 at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham, Wash. The Riverhawks scored three runs in the eighth inning to earn a series win after back-to-back wins over the Bells.
Bellingham (21-14) looks to salvage game three against Edmonton (18-13) at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow, July 10 to complete a six-game home stand.
The Bells scored first with Rob Jacobsen running home from third on a wild pitch in the first inning. Edmonton tied the game in the third with a run versus Devyn Hernandez, who started for the Bells tonight.
Jason Green hit a leadoff home run in the fourth to put the Riverhawks up 2-1, but the Bells answered with a tying run on another wild pitch that allowed Kirkpatrick to score.
Hernandez finished his five-inning start with seven strikeouts while allowing five hits and two walks for two runs (one earned). The Bells took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout from Andrew Lamb that scored Jacobsen.
Mack Edwards came in relief for the sixth inning and picked up two strikeouts in a scoreless frame. Aiden Aguayo delivered a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame to put the Bells ahead 4-2.
Edwards struck out the side in the seventh and Bellingham carried all the momentum into the eighth. Edwards allowed a walk and two hits to load the bases in the eighth. After a missed call on a check swing, he walked in a run.
The Riverhawks hit into a double play that tied the game and Edwards was relieved by Tyler Biddinger, who surrendered an RBI double that gave Edmonton a 5-4 lead.
Biddinger finished 1.1 innings with only a hit allowed while picking up two strikeouts. Bellingham couldn’t mount a comeback and dropped their second straight game to the Riverhawks.
Jacobsen led Bellingham by reaching safely three times via a hit and two walks while scoring two runs. The Bells had just four hits coming from Jacobsen, Lamb, Noah Figuered and Brock Sell, who tripled. The Bells three arms struck out a combined 14 batters in the loss.
Tomorrow night’s starters are Cal Young for Bellingham and Jesse Kaphing for Edmonton.

Bells win North Division to advance to WCL Championship
The Bellingham Bells are moving on in the West Coast League Playoffs after a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Riverhawks in the North Division Championship Game Tuesday, Aug 12 at RE/MAX Field in Edmonton, Alberta. The Bells will now face the Portland Pickles in the WCL title game Thursday to try and win Bellingham's first championship since 2014.
Quiban sends Bellingham to North Division Championship

Rominic Quiban delivered the walk-off hit leading to a play at the plate where Blake Balsz slid around a tag to keep Bellingham's season alive.

The Bellingham Bells opened the WCL Playoffs in the North Divisional Series with a Game 1 win over the Wenatchee AppleSox 7-6 Friday, August 8 at Paul Thomas Sr. Field in Wenatchee, Wash. The AppleSox never led in the game and Bellingham is one win away from advancing to the North Divisional Championship Game.
