BELLINGHAM, WA — Wednesday, April 3, the Bellingham Bells announced the addition of Everett Community College pitcher, Callum Young, and Washington State University pitcher, Nick Lewis.

Callum Young is a returning Bellingham Bell after pitching in one game last summer for the team. He came into the season late and helped the Bells pick up a 12-1 win over Wenatchee. Young pitched one inning in that game, not allowing a single hit.

The left-handed pitcher is pitching in his first year for the Everett Community College Trojans where he has made six appearances with a 2.86 ERA and 30 strikeouts in just 28.1 innings.

Last year Young was part of the UBC Thunder in the British Columbia Premier Baseball League. He helped the Thunder win the 2023 Provincial Championship in his senior season when his team defeated the Parksville Royals 8-7 in extra innings.

“Cal spent limited time with the Bells last summer, and we were impressed by his arsenal of pitches and his ability to throw strikes,” Bells General Manager, Stephanie Morrell, said. “As a hard throwing lefty, he’ll be tough for opposing hitters this summer and we’re glad he’s returning to the Bells for summer 2024.”

Coming out of Santiago High School Nick Lewis was a top prospect in California. He is in his freshman year for the Washington State Cougars after becoming an All-Big VIII Conference and All-CIF First Team selection during his High School career multiple times.

In four years at Santiago High School Lewis pitched a 1.50 ERA with 120 strikeouts. He was ranked the 21st best left-handed pitcher in California by Perfect Game. He also threw three no-hitters during his junior and senior seasons.

“Nick is a left-handed pitcher who attacks hitters with a good fastball,” Bells Head Coach, Bob Ralston said. “He is a competitor on the mound who lives in the strike zone.”

The Bellingham Bells pitching staff is ready for the home opener, May 31, against the Edmonton Riverhawks. Tickets are on sale at bellstickets.com, see the promotional schedule to find the best ticket opportunity for this summer.
