Bells add Four Cougars from Washington State University
Four Washington State Cougars Join Bells
BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bells are excited to announce the addition of two pitchers and two position players from Washington State University to the 2022 roster.
“We are extremely excited about this group of Cougs Coach Brian Green is sending to Bellingham this summer,” Bells head coach Adam Geaslen said.
Sophomore right hander Cooper Barnum is from Vancouver, Wash., and graduated from Skyview High School in 2020. He was ranked the No. 164 pitcher in the country his senior year by Prep Baseball Report. “Cooper is an experienced right-hander with good command of all his pitches,” Geaslen said.
Right-handed counterpart Elias Farland is also a sophomore at WSU and graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview, Wash. He appeared in 16 games for the Portland Pickles last summer including two outings against the Bells and posted a 2.61 ERA. “Elias can produce a large amount of swing and miss out of the bullpen,” Geaslen said.
Freshman catcher Will Cresswell graduated from Puyallup High School in Auburn, Wash., in 2021. He batted .415 and was ranked the No. 4 catching prospect by Perfect Game as a senior. He has started eight games with WSU this spring and is batting .300. “Will is an outstanding receiver and handles a pitching staff very well,” Geaslen said.
Freshman infielder Elijah Hainline graduated from Mead High School in Spokane, Wash., in 2021. He has started nine games with the Cougars this season and has a batting average of .385. “Elijah is an athletic middle infielder that shows the ability to impact a game both offensively and with the glove,” Geaslen said.
This crop of WSU Cougars will provide offense and explosive pitching for the Bells this summer.
The Bells home opener is May 31 against the Springfield Drifters at Joe Martin Field.
