Three Pitchers Round out the Roster for 2023 Season

The Bellingham Bells are excited to announce three pitchers joining the 2023 roster. Washington State right-handed pitcher Ryan Orr, along with Washington left-handed pitcher Gianluca Shinn and right-handed pitcher Isaac Yeager will all compete for the Bells during summer 2023.

During his senior year of high school in 2022, Orr helped Tumwater High School to a 2A State Championship with a 17-strikeout game in the WIAA regional playoffs. After recording 93 strikeouts and a stellar ERA of 0.86, Orr was rated the fourth-best right-hander in Washington and no. 183 right-handed pitcher in the country by Perfect Game. Currently, in his freshman year at WSU, he’s recorded 8 strikeouts with a 2.92 ERA.

“Ryan Orr is a hard-throwing RHP, who has been used out of the bullpen for WSU this season. He projects as a starter down the road for the Cougs and could be used as either a reliever or a starter for the Bells this summer,” Bells head coach Jim Clem said. “Ryan uses a 3-pitch mix, is a known strike-thrower, and a tough competitor. We are excited to see what Ryan does this summer!”

University of Washington Junior Gianluca Shinn came out of high school ranked as the No. 19 left-handed pitcher in California by Perfect Game. Shinn has made 10 appearances for the Huskies this spring, issuing only one total walk.

“Gianluca Shinn is a LHP who has had a lot of success as a lefty specialist, in a relievers role, for the Huskies this season. He brings experience and know-how to our staff,” Clem said. “Luca is an exciting piece to add to our team! We expect he will be a great contributor and a big help both on and off the field.”

Yeager, a freshman for the Huskies, came out of high school ranked the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 3 right-handed pitcher in Washington by Perfect Game. He garnered All-State and All-Metro honors as well as being named the Perfect Game First Team All-America West Region.

With the Huskies in 2023, Yeager has made nine appearances in his rookie year. In six of the nine outings, he has not given up any runs.

“Isaac Yeager is a big, hard-throwing RHP, who is being used in relief for the Huskies this season. As a current freshman, Isaac comes to the UW as a highly touted pitcher from Bishop Blanchet High School of Seattle,” Clem said. “He has a three-pitch mix and is known for having a very good fastball and a competitive spirit. We are excited to have Isaac on our team! Isaac is going to be a fun pitcher for Bells fans to watch this summer!”

The Bells Opening Day is June 2, 2023, against the Edmonton Riverhawks at Joe Martin Field.
