AppleSox force Game 3 in 13 innings

The Bellingham Bells lost Game 2 of the North Divisional Series 7-6 versus the Wenatchee AppleSox in 13 innings at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham, Wash. The Bells and AppleSox now play a win-or-go-home Game 3 tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. for a trip to the North Divisional Championship Game.
Wenatchee took an early 1-0 lead against Bellingham’s starter Cal Young. Young settle in for his next four innings and his offense tied the game in the second on a bases-loaded walk to Rob Jacobsen.
The Bells pulled ahead 5-1 with a four-run fourth inning highlighted by Andrew Lamb’s two RBI single. Young finished a five-inning start with five hits and two walks allowed for one run and struck out four.
Devyn Hernandez took over in the sixth, but the West Coast League All-Star allowed two runs on three hits and two walks to inch Wenatchee closer 5-3. Caleb Cassie tossed a 1-2-3 seventh, but gave up two runs in the eighth making it a 5-5 tie entering the ninth.
The AppleSox tagged Bells closer Tyler Biddinger for one run, but the Bells loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth and tied the game on a fielder’s choice by Rob Jacobsen.
Both teams struggled to gain any offense in extra innings. The AppleSox got their first hit of extras in the 12th off Biddinger and the right-handed pitcher was relieved after 3.2 innings with three hits and one run allowed while collecting three strikeouts.
Mack Edwards took over for the end of the 12th and the 13th. In the 13th, the AppleSox first baseman Evan Cloyd had a one-out single and was pinch ran for by Theo Kim. Kim moved to second on a sac bunt and Noah Fields grounded a ball to Noah Figuered at second base that resulted in a bobble and error that allowed Kim to score all the way from second.
The AppleSox took the 7-6 win after the Bells couldn’t extend the game in the bottom of the 13th. The Bells had just six hits tonight led by a 2-for-3 night by Rominic Quiban, who had an RBI double.
Tomorrow Bellingham and Wenatchee play in a decisive Game 3 for a trip to the second round of the WCL Playoffs. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham.

Bells win North Division to advance to WCL Championship
The Bellingham Bells are moving on in the West Coast League Playoffs after a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Riverhawks in the North Division Championship Game Tuesday, Aug 12 at RE/MAX Field in Edmonton, Alberta. The Bells will now face the Portland Pickles in the WCL title game Thursday to try and win Bellingham's first championship since 2014.
